Understand what is free, what Pro adds, purchase restore, and app updates.
Fraime.it is free to record, edit, and export with. Pro is for the AI editing layer.
What is free
Recording, the full timeline editor, the keyboard shortcut HUD, editor context capture, secret detection and masking, on-device transcription and subtitles, and export are all free. Exports are never watermarked and are not capped, and none of it requires an account.
Pro plans
Pro unlocks the AI editing layer on top of the free tier:
- Smart Zoom, which reads the session and places the zooms and framing automatically. Placing a zoom yourself stays free, and Fraime.it still frames it for you.
- Smart trim, which finds the silent typing and idle stretches worth speeding up
- Filler-word analysis, which offers each um and uh as a reviewable cut
- The Timeline Assistant, where you describe an edit and read the plan before applying it. Every Mac gets 25 free assistant messages before Pro is required.
- The MCP agent bridge, which lets Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor record and edit for you. The bridge refuses every tool call without Pro.
Pro is $8/month billed annually at $99, or $19 month to month.
Billing
Fraime.it uses Lemon Squeezy for checkout, taxes, invoices, subscription management, and customer billing flows.
Use the account or billing links from the website when you need invoices, subscription management, or order lookup.
Restore purchase
Use your Lemon Squeezy receipt or My Orders page to find your license key. In the macOS app, choose Account, then Restore Purchase, and enter the license key.
Keep the license key somewhere you can access later. If you move to a new Mac or reinstall the app, you may need it to restore access.
Use Manage Subscription when you need to update billing details, invoices, renewal, or cancellation through Lemon Squeezy.
Updates
Release builds include an in-app update checker powered by Sparkle when update settings are configured. You can also download the latest stable DMG from the Fraime.it website.
Common questions
Do I need an account before recording?
No. You can record, edit, and export locally without ever creating an account.
Are free exports watermarked or limited?
No. Exports carry no Fraime.it watermark and there is no export count limit on the free tier.
Where do I get the latest version?
Use the download page for the latest stable DMG. Release builds can also check for updates inside the app when Sparkle is configured.
What if restore fails?
Check that the license key is copied exactly from Lemon Squeezy, that the app can reach the license service, and that you are using the purchase associated with the plan you expect.
